Safety is our top priority, so here are some essential grilling tips to ensure your holiday cookout is both delicious and safe:

1️⃣ Keep a safe distance: Set up your grill in an open area, away from any structures, overhanging branches, or flammable materials.

2️⃣ Preheat and clean: Before cooking, preheat your grill for at least 10-15 minutes, and clean the grates to prevent flare-ups and ensure even cooking.

3️⃣ Stay attentive: Never leave your grill unattended while it's in use. Keep an eye on it at all times to prevent accidents.

4️⃣ Safety gear: Have a fire extinguisher, a bucket of sand, or a hose nearby just in case. Safety first!

5️⃣ Proper lighting: If you're using a charcoal grill, use only charcoal starter fluid, and never add more fluid to hot coals.

6️⃣ Food safety: Keep raw and cooked foods separate and use a meat thermometer to ensure your meats are cooked to a safe temperature.

7️⃣ Grill tools: Use long utensils and oven mitts to avoid burns. Safety always comes first!

8️⃣ Kids and pets: Keep children and pets away from the grilling area to prevent accidents.

9️⃣ Proper disposal: Dispose of hot coals or ashes in a metal container and let them cool completely before disposal.

Most importantly, enjoy the day and the delicious food!

From all of us at Seven Hills Fire District, have a fantastic and safe Labor Day filled with fun, food, and friends!
